five sixty five, twenty ninth.
EXTERIOR
Cara's house has both a basement (unfinished) and a tiny attic bedroom, but everything useful is located on the main floor. This is where her master bedroom, bath, and kitchen all are. No front yard, she's got a few planters, but.. She's not exactly a gardener in her free time.
LIVING ROOM
Immediately inside the front door is a tiny living room. The house has an open layout for the most part, reminiscent of a cottage, and this is the last room that she's working to really make her own. She
does
have a mounted television and gas fireplace, though. Little-big things make all the difference. She'll throw on some new paint soon!
BACKYARD
It's not huge, but it's a yard in San Francisco, and that's something that most people don't have. When the weather's okay, Cara's more than happy to host a few friends for cookouts.
KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
This room is the room Cara's proudest of renovating. While her house is tiny, she was determined to make a functional kitchen that was easy on the eye. Dozens of meetings and building ordinances and contractor debacles later, she's wound up with this: an open-layout kitchen and dining room that opens out into her backyard.
BEDROOM
Like most other things in this house, save for Cara herself, the bedroom is small. It's bright and simple, which is enough to ease any academic mind at the end of the day. Yes, she actually uses the chest at the foot of her bed; the room itself smells like a faint mix of cedar and florals because of it.
BATHROOM
Two words. Heated. Floors. It's Cara's bathroom, and it's located on the first floor. And she put heated floors in it. That's all she really cares that you know.
BASEMENT
It's not pretty, it's not finished, but it gets the job done in terms of housing her washer/dryer and any remaining storage needs she might have.
GUEST BEDROOM
There is a
tiny
attic space that Cara threw a mattress into; it's a pretty modest guest bedroom, but she's prone to opening her heart and home to anyone who just might need a crash pad. The one down side is that wind noises are bad up here. Sorry, guys.
NOE VALLEY
"Roughly speaking, Noe Valley is bounded by 21st Street to the north, 30th Street to the south, Dolores Street to the east, and Grand View Avenue to the west. The Castro (Eureka Valley) is north of Noe Valley; the Mission District is east."
NOE VALLEY
"Noe Valley was primarily developed at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, especially in the years just after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. As a result, the neighborhood contains many examples of the "classic" Victorian and Edwardian residential architecture for which San Francisco is famous. As a working-class neighborhood, Noe Valley houses were built in rows, with some of the efficient, low-cost homes being more ornate than others, depending on the owner's taste and finances. Today, Noe Valley has one of the highest concentration of row houses in San Francisco, with streets having three to four and sometimes as many as a dozen on the same side."
NOE VALLEY
"One of the attractions of Noe Valley is that the adjacent Twin Peaks partly blocks the coastal fog and cool winds from the Pacific, making the microclimate usually sunnier and warmer than surrounding neighborhoods."
HER TASTE
Cara reads cookbooks. She watches Netflix on the couch. She wants to buy every single Joanna Gaines item Target has to offer. It's important to her that her house feels like
her
home, and if that means grading at the dining room table or nearly ruining the oven from a quiche gone wrong, then she's fine with it.. In the grand scheme of things.
HER TASTE
Cara both is a doctoral student and teaches physics classes at Stanford University.. And she's an avid fan of their sports programs. She's especially enthusiastic about football (due in part to her older brother's influence). Stanford paraphernalia is all over the place, if you really look hard enough.
HER CAR
She drives a 2015 Jeep Compass. It's black with a leather interior. She's nicknamed it the Batmobile.
HER LITERATURE
When she's not doing her own research or falling asleep with her nose in a textbook, Cara enjoys memoirs and poetry.
HER CAR
The interior of the Batmobile. Well worn, usually with a subtle & seasonal air-freshener.
